The site contains a former constitutional club and accompanying bowling green which have been vacant and unused for around 6 years. Since that time the whole site has become overgrown and an eyesore on a key site close to the town centre of Leiston.
The scheme required sensitive design due to the site’s location within a conservation area and being of local interest. Lanpro undertook pre-application discussions wit the Council to establish the amount of the existing building that could be demolished and the scale of the new build elements around it. The development will provide a mix of unit types including 1 and 2 bedroom flats and 2 bedroom bungalows which makes efficient use of the site and the existing building.
Lanpro prepared a need case to justify the loss of the bowling green as it was considered a community facility.
