Hall Farm, Northwold, West Norfolk

Lanpro have assisted Infraland and Boultbee Brooks Renewable Energy to secure planning permission for a 10 MW solar park near Northwold in West Norfolk, covering 22 hectares.

Planning permission was secured under delegated authority from King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council. Lanpro planning led on the application, supported by our landscape, heritage and arboriculture teams. Once built, the scheme will generate enough renewable energy to power approximately 3,000 homes as well as a 72.5% biodiversity net gain. Lanpro are involved in a number of other sites with Infraland, who are working on a 460 MW pipeline of similar projects across the country. We hope to deliver further planning consents for them in 2022.

This project is a good example of the planning system working well. The applicant played their part by presenting a high quality, robust application addressing all environmental and policy issues; and engaging effectively with the local community. The planning authority made a really positive contribution by reflecting on both the consultee responses and their own renewable energy policies, concluding that the application was appropriate for a delegated decision. We now move swiftly on to construction and the delivery of electricity from a renewable source in to the grid.
