Cottam Solar Project DCO Accepted for Examination

Lanpro are pleased to have seen this NSIP project, which straddles the Lincolnshire Nottinghamshire border accepted for Examination by the Planning Inspectorate on behalf of the Secretary of State.

Working for our longstanding client, Island Green Power, we acted as lead consultant and EIA co-ordinator for the work of the wider project team; provided all planning , landscape, archaeology, heritage and socio economic services and along with legal advisors Pinsent Masons, ensured a high quality submission.

The energy generating capacity of the project is significant at 600MW, one of the largest ground mounted solar projects in the UK and the scale and extent of the scheme is therefore substantial. Our project lead Ian Douglass, Director said “….this is a complex project, not just because of scale but also due to the disparate nature of the 3 separate land parcels accommodating the solar arrays and the extensive cable route corridors connecting them to each other and the national grid at Cottam Power Station. The expertise of our landscape team in assessing potential cumulative impacts; and our heritage team in ‘designing’ a proportionate survey and mitigation strategy were particular highlights!”.

We now look forward to the Examination stage likely to start in mid 2023.

Our work in the renewables sector is significant. We are currently progressing solar and battery projects of over 1.5 GW of energy and this continues to grow, as do our teams and our multi-disciplinary service offering.
