Hearing sessions for the public examination of Bedford’s new Local Plan 2030 are now underway with the first being held week commencing 28th May. Hearing sessions will take place throughout the coming month in w/c 3rd, 17th, and 24th June.
As with their neighbouring council referred to above, Central Bedfordshire’s Local Plan is also now under public examination, with hearing sessions commencing 22nd May, and taking place in the weeks of 10th and 17th June, and 15th and 22nd July. The final day allocated for hearings is 25th July, with Friday 26th set aside as an additional reserve day.
Following the Inspector’s Report deeming Huntingdonshire’s Local Plan to 2036 ‘sound’, the Council adopted their new plan on 15 May 2019. Together with the Adopted Policies Map, these replace the previous planning policies of the Core Strategy 2009, Huntingdon West Area Action Plan 2011, and previous saved policies.
On 7 May, Inspector Louise Crosby deemed the Peterborough New Local Plan ‘sound’, provided her recommended modifications are incorporated into the final adopted version. As such, the New Local Plan will be presented to a meeting of the full Council on 24 July 2019, where a decision on adoption of the Plan will be made.
Following requested modifications to draft policies relating to the settlement of Brookfield made by Broxbourne Council, the Inspector has re-opened Issue 6.1 (Brookfield) for a further single day hearing session on 11 June 2019.
As of the end of March 2019, the Section 21A holding direction on Stevenage’s Local Plan has now formally been lifted by the Secretary of State for MCHLG, subject to the preparation of a new Area Action Plan for Stevenage’s “Station Gateway”. Duly, the Council has now adopted the new Local Plan on 22 May 2019.
As part of their Local Plan examination, Welwyn Hatfield Council are currently exploring whether any additional sites may be suitable to help meet the Council’s housing need. As such, a new consultation for promoted sites in the Call for Sites 2019 has now opened from 7 May to 18 June 2019.
Following the completion of the Examination Hearing Sessions in 2018, a schedule of Main Modifications to the Local Plan was published for consultation. The Inspector considers these changes necessary in order for the Local Plan to be found ‘sound’. Previous consultations on Main Modifications were held from February through to May 2019. A new consultation is deemed necessary, however, as the wording of several modifications was not accurately presented in the corrected version of the Plan that was published, and there were some inconsistencies with, and omissions from, the Schedule of Main Modifications document. This new six-week consultation will be held from 30 May to 12 July 2019.
On 15 April 2019, the Broads Authority received their Inspector’s Report which, subject to a small number of modifications, deems the Local Plan ‘sound’ for adoption. Following presentation to the Full Authority and Planning Committees for members’ approval, the Broads Authority Local Plan was adopted on 17 May.
On 7 May, North Norfolk District Council published their First Draft Local Plan (part 1) for public consultation, which will run until 19 June. North Norfolk wish to hear the public’s views on their initial draft housing, employment, and open space policies, alongside a range of new policies guiding development proposals relating to housing construction standards, design of development, renewable energy, coastal management and much more. Alongside the Draft Local Plan, comments are welcomed on the new Design Guide, and Landscape Character & Sensitivity Assessments.
Following a public examination of the Forest Heath Core Strategy Single Issue Review of Policy CS7 (SIR) and Site Allocations Local Plan (SALP) by independent planning inspectors during 2017 and 2018, the inspectors are inviting comments on further documents that address issues of legal compliance and soundness. This is a consequence of recent rulings from the Court of Justice for the European Union (CJEU). Therefore, Forest Heath are now conducting concurrent, albeit separate, consultations on the SIR and SALP from 9 May until 21 June 2019.

New Chelmsford Office
