Hole Farm, Knowl Green, Essex

Lanpro obtained full planning permission for the development of three poultry houses along with a biomass generator on a farm in Knowl Green, Essex.

The development will form part of a farm diversification project for an arable farmer and will house up to 40,000 free-range chickens. Each of the poultry houses will have at least 1.5 hectares of outdoor roaming space which will be landscaped with woodland planting. This will help to provide a more diverse environment for the birds and encourage insects, bugs and berries which creates a higher quality environment and diet for poultry.

The poultry that is grown on the farm will be supplied to Traditional Norfolk Poultry (TNP) to process. The whole ethos of TNP and the development proposals is free range poultry and the birds living in the best quality conditions. This in turn ensures the highest quality of meat for the market.

Lanpro identified the planning strategy and led on the preparation and submission of the planning application, including the community consultation programme. We provided design input to the project as well as utilising our in-house heritage service.
