Great Yarmouth Third River Crossing project

Proworks are delighted to announce the Great Yarmouth Third River Crossing project has received Development Consent Order (DCO) Approval from the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps.

The £120m Infrastructure project to provide a third crossing over the River Yare in Great Yarmouth is of both local and national significance.  The new bridge will provide a strategic transport link to support the growth of Yarmouth’s key industries including the off shore energy and maritime sectors, as well as reducing congestion on the towns road network. This investment in key infrastructure will provide a boost the local economy as the county looks beyond the recent coronavirus pandemic to grow local enterprise and promote inward investment.

Proworks provided the Architectural and Landscape Architectural design for the concept and technical design for the landscape masterplan, bridge control towers and a new multifunctional riverside public spaces for contractor BAM Farrans, working in conjunction with Roughan & O’Donovan consulting engineers.

Landscape Architect Anna Oliveri who has been working on the project for the last 18 months said “The DCO approval is a great milestone to have reached on this project. I’m looking forward to seeing the new public space delivered as part of the project, which alongside redevelopment of other key riverside sites, such as North Quay will contribute to a wider regeneration of the Yare riverside within Great Yarmouth.”

Proworks are very much looking forward to seeing construction commence in early 2021.
